These are some biro drawings of my first installation as on my ILP (Individual Learning Plan) my first target was to stop doing big charcoal drawings as I didn't have the confidence to do large scale drawings yet. I needed to work my way up to do that, and this for me symbolises a big change in my drawing style and one that I am very happy with. The reason I used to be scared to do biro drawings is because its pen it is permanent but I decided that I needed to forget that I'm not doing photorealism drawings, I'm drawing an abstract shape so for the best effect to be gained I needed to draw in an abstract way and ignore the fact that pen is permanent and use that to my advantage.

The first drawing I did of 'Blanketed Feelings' I was very cautious as because I never had done a drawing like this before so my lines are very restricted but I knew in order to achieve the texture of the blanket in the drawing that I needed to have one main distinct line but have other fainter lines around them to have the appearance of the frayed edges of the fabric. As I first biro drawing I couldn't be happier with how this drawing looks, I feel I have captured the movement of the blanket draped from the ceiling accurately whilst maintaining an abstract drawing style.

This drawing from 'Blanketed Feelings' is from the right hand side of it so a similar shape to before but from the other side and from this angle the rip in the middle of the piece is present and allowed me to add some tone to my drawing and again I needed to make sure that I kept this abstract line making to keep the essence of the frayed edges of the blanket while making sure it still looked like 'Blanketed Feelings'. I am again very happy with this drawing and it has given me the confidence to draw in a way I would have never attempted to last year and I feel this style of drawing shows off my ability to draw best as it allows me to add a textured look into my drawings while actually drawing which is something I wouldn't have had the confidence to do last year
.
This drawing of 'Blanketed Feeling's is from the underside and allowed me to get one of the most interesting drawings I have done so far this year as it allowed me to draw using my new found favourite style to draw but also allowed me to try drawing and making certain areas of the object stand out and look as if it is closer towards you than other areas. I am again very happy with this drawing and I am going to be continuing drawing in this style for a while yet to prove to the examiner that I can draw and that I can draw abstract complicated shapes from a variety of angles.

This drawing of 'Blanketed Feelings' is from the top looking down the main drape of the blanket and this again allowed for me to challenge myself to draw a 3D object on a 2D surface and try to get the texture and the form of the blanket into one drawing and I believe that I have managed to achieve that again and I couldn't be happier with this new style of drawing that I have tried and proven to work and that it suits my style as an artist and allows me to show off my full ability of my drawing skills, and by discovering this style of drawing and attempting it and throwing myself in the deep end with my first target of my ILP has given me such confidence as I know I can do it and previous drawings were mistakes that we can go back and fix and that I now know and have proven to myself that I can draw and that when I put my head down and really closely observe what I'm drawing that I can come out with what I think are quality and the best drawings so far of my entire A level in art.
